He Sent His Son

Thought I’d post something for the Easter season.  It’s different than your normal Easter song which is triumphant, this is more ethereal, contemplative.

I  originally wrote this arrangement of He Sent His Son for this past Christmas’ congregational program.  It was meant to be a piece that provided contrast to the more standard arrangements the choir would be singing.

The arrangement is supposed to have lots of space.  When writing, I used Morten Lauridsen’s O Nata Lux as a guide for the type of sound and style I was shooting for. Meaning very open harmonies and multiple melody lines.

This piece skews towards intermediate to advanced in terms of difficulty.  If you end up performing this, please shoot me an e-mail since I’d love to hear your interpretation.

Note that I don’t yet have a choir recording of this piece, but I am attaching the piano rehearsal track for reference.
